November 2011
Dear friends and Prayer Partners,
It seems the months here in Peru are just flying by! We are busy daily working on various ministry projects, and the days and weeks are just a blur to us! We are making good progress in several areas and look forward to updating you on each aspect of the ministry God has called us to here.
Church Planting:
We are excited to see New Life Baptist Church celebrate its 9th anniversary on December 4th. We love being a part of this ministry and all the mighty things God is doing there. Our hearts continue to be moved to start a new bus route in a community we pass on the way to church each week, but we do not feel we can do so until we have a vehicle as well as the funds to start this route (about $50 per week). Please help us pray about this need. This area could easily be the start of a new church over time if God wills it.
New Life Christian School:
Stacy is working now on draft copies of a faculty and student handbook. There is much work to be done in order to open the school in March if that is God’s will, and we daily work on this “project”. Please help us pray that God gives us clear direction as to His perfect will for this ministry. We know He is never “late” though at times things do not happen according to our schedule.
“Other” Ministries and Personal Update:
· Stacy and Jennifer continue to take Spanish classes 3 days per week for 3 hours each day. We at times find ourselves “frustrated” because we cannot clearly communicate with the Peruvian people. While we are certainly learning and attempting to practice what we learn each week, we still cannot “carry on a conversation” without great difficulty. The children get Spanish class at school, and they are also doing very well. Please pray that we can grasp this new language so we can share Christ and do the things God has called us to do.
· Jennifer continues to teach English to the “tutors” at the Children’s Home. She loves this time with these Peruvian ladies and they do much smiling and laughing as they both attempt new languages. They are eager to learn, and most of them are doing very well! There will be a break in these classes for Christmas through February as the children in the home will be on summer break so the tutors will have other responsibilities.
· Our children are adjusting VERY well here, and we are so thankful for that! They are all doing well in school and enjoying the social interaction with the other children. Some of them have been able to make friends with Peruvian children as well (who speak English), and this has been a blessing as well!
Ongoing Prayer Requests:
Several people have asked us if there are things that can be shipped to us that we need here in Peru and either cannot get or are very expensive. We are so thankful for our supporters, friends and family in the States who think about our physical needs here. After some discussion, we have made the decision to add a section to our website that we can update as needs arise with things that could be sent to us. We hope to have this completed in the next few days. If you are interested in shipping a box to us, please check our website. What a blessing that would be!
We want to wish each of you who receive this letter a blessed CHRISTmas season. We know that without Him we would have nothing and without Him we can do nothing. We do not take for granted your interest in our family or the ministry God has called us to here in Peru.
Until the Nets Are Full,
The Dassow Family
